A City Club Wedding Soiree – All You Need is LOVE

CHEERS to the newly engaged! The City Club rolled out the red carpet last Friday evening for a Wedding Soiree! Upon arrival, guests were greeted with a glass of bubbly from a glamorous Champagne Skirt. The soothing voices of Bobby Jo Valentine and Vintage Jukebox set the mood!

Guests enjoyed an array of hors d’oeuvres, sample entree selections, and his & hers signature cocktails from The City Club of San Francisco. The dining rooms were decked out head to toe with floral creations by Paul Robertson and custom pastel votives by Glassybaby.

Our Bridal Suite featured stunning bridal gowns from Marina Morrison, make up touch ups and goody bags by Benefit Cosmetics, and a fun selection of jewels and bridesmaids gifts from Stella & Dot.

Next to the bridal suite, a Groom’s Lounge was dressed to impress with a whiskey tasting and a cigar roller. Yes, the grooms had fun too!

Brides, grooms, and their entourage enjoyed an evening of everything wedding!

A very special thank you to all of our fabulous vendors and participants who made this event a success!

Holiday Party Testimonials

We love events of all kinds, but the holidays are particularly special around The City Club. 2016 was no exception, as the decor sparkled brighter than ever and we entertained more happy guests than any other holiday season in history. We are especially thankful to have such wonderful staff, many of whom have been with The City Club for several years, and a culinary team that continues to inspire and delight our guests with the best that the City has to offer.

We are grateful to our wonderful clients who took the time to share their thanks and feedback about their events this year. See what they are saying:

“I wanted to reach out and give you the biggest THANK YOU that I could possibly give! We had such a great time on Saturday. We also keep getting rave feedback (e.g. “party of the century” “best Party I have EVER been to”, etc.)!  I know that your team was instrumental in making sure that the atmosphere, food, flow, execution, literally EVERYTHING was top notch and we couldn’t be happier with the City Club.” ~Stephanie

“I would like to extend our appreciation for a wonderful event we had last night. Please extend our heartfelt thanks to your staff as everyone was great – from ambiance, food and mostly the service. They really took care of us. This is the best Holiday Celebration we had the last 3-years and we’re hoping to be back in 2017.” ~Murita

“I wanted to take some time to properly Thank-You!!! For helping to make this year’s celebration one of our most memorable events, to date!  The décor was amazing, as were the entrée’s and appetizers.  Again, Thanks so much!!” ~ Meshay

“Thank you for a perfect evening!  We had great support, a professional staff, and a wonderful ambiance and meal. I was so impressed with the kindness and care your staff showed our guests.” ~Rosa

2016 Wedding Trends

The arrival of Spring brings the start of wedding season and we’d love to share our Top 5 Favorite Wedding Trends for 2016.

  1. Metallic Color Palettes – The Golds, Silvers and Coppers are definitely adding a nice twist to the classic looks. You can have a traditional table setting for a seated meal but add something different with gold charges…

Or gold mercury candle votives for a touch of ambiance

2. Lighting Galore – Transform the look of any room or space with great lighting. You can go with something as simple as uplighting to add a touch of color to the room

Or we’ve recently been loving a combination of uplights, market lights, and light-up signage:

3. Non-Floral Centerpiece / Food-Inspired Floral Elements – With the cost of weddings growing increasingly high over the years, saving a little here or there when it comes to the budget is very key. You can certainly do so by straying away from the traditional elaborate centerpieces and instead used succulents or candles arrangements.

Another fun trend that is popping up is the food-inspired floral elements, such as using fruits and vegetables, which is both fun and unique as well as re-usable…go green!

4.  Food Stations & Cocktail Receptions – 2016 is the year to socialize and move away from the traditional seated 1.5-2hr dinners. Instead think about making the “dinner” portion be part of the entire evening by having food stations with Chef Attendants and small plates. This will get the guest moving and talking and give your wedding an extra fun element.

5.  Couples are steering away from the traditional multi-tiered wedding cake and instead opting to have a fun interactive station for the sweet factor at their wedding. This can range anywhere from simple bite size dessert buffets to a more interactive build your own cupcake stations.

Of course there are still options for those of you who like to still have the traditional wedding cake but want a little something extra for the guest….why not include a candy & sweets station to add to the sugar rush for the evening!

The possibilities are endless when you start with the backdrop of a fabulous venue! We may be biased on that…but we’ll let you be the judge!

Happy Wedding Planning!

Max’s “March Madness” Bar Mitzvah

We say it all the time – we LOVE a good party and we especially love a good party with a great theme done right!

A recent Bar Mitzvah that was held at The City Club took “March Madness” to a whole new level! We loved everything about Max’s basketball-themed celebration, from the cake to the yarmulkes and every detail in between. We’re partial to the love for the Golden State Warriors, but really, everything about this fun event brought out the hoops fans in all of us.

Those yarmulkes are amazing, aren’t they?! The guests all looked fantastic!

Congratulations, Max! We hope you and your family and friends had the best time celebrating your special day.

Happy March Madness! Wishing you a weekend full of bracket busters and exciting upsets!

Iron Horse Vineyards Winemaker Dinner 2.18.16

IMG_7032

On Thursday, February 18th, The City Club welcomed Joy Sterling, CEO of Iron Horse Vineyards, who hosted our first Winemaker Dinner of the year. What a special evening! The aptly named Joy is not just a tireless Ambassador for the brand, but has an infectious enthusiasm for the products her family produces, and appreciates the ability that a wonderful glass of wine – sparkling or still – has to bring people together.

Iron Horse is one of Sonoma County’s most beautiful, small, independent, estate, family-owned wineries. A pioneer in the Green Valley appellation within the Russian River Valley of Sonoma County, the Iron Horse family is building a legacy of prestige sparkling wines and estate bottled Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Iron Horse’s renowned Sparkling Wines have been served at the White House for five consecutive Presidential Administrations, beginning with the historic Reagan-Gorbachev Summit Meetings ending the Cold War

May Flowers

We haven’t been receiving much rain in San Francisco but that hasn’t stopped our local florist from sourcing the most beautiful stems to produce gorgeous arrangements!

Here at The City Club our centerpieces are nothing short of amazing whether you want to go with something as simple as an Orchid with some greenery and Manzanita Branches or an arrangement that is more elaborate with a variety of flowers, our in house florist Ricardo Ramirez Floral Design does it all.

As always, you’re welcome to use your preferred florist for any events at the Club, and we are happy to share Ricardo’s contact information with you if you are looking for something extra special and complementary to our decor.

Stop and admire on your next visit to the Club!

From Fluffy Pancakes with Strawberry Compote & Whipped Cream, to Roast Leg of Lamb, an extravagant Caviar Bar and more Tortes, Pies & Cakes than should be legal in one place – it was a showstopper!

All that and a String Quartet to set the mood. A really lovely way to celebrate Mom!  If you didn’t make it this year, please come and join us next year.
