The City Club Gang met in Healdsburg for a weekend of good wine, good food & even better company.
Hotel Healdsburg, located right on the edge of Healdsburg historic town’s plaza was the perfect combination of modern and charming. With luxurious amenities and accommodations, our management team had the opportunity to enjoy one of the finest experiences that the hospitality industry has to offer.
Our first activity was a private tour at MacPhail Family Wines, led by winemaker James MacPhail. We learned about the process of making Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Rose from the Sonoma Coast, Russian River, and Anderson Valley. We took full advantage of the beautiful Spring-like day, enjoying sips of their handcrafted wines in the garden, and nibbling on an array of delicacies from Oakville Grocery. It was the perfect way to kick off the weekend!
After soaking up some afternoon sunshine at the hotel pool, we were treated to a spectacular meal at Chef Charlie Palmer’s Dry Creek Kitchen. WOW! From the fantastic service to the five-star meal, it was a dining experience that won’t soon be forgotten.
If you’re looking for a quick getaway out of the city, Healdsburg is your spot! It’s has the feel of a country town sprinkled the luxury of tasting rooms, fabulous restaurants, and lovely boutiques.

Every year, The City Club proudly participates in the Annual San Francisco Firefighters Toy program – one of our favorite holiday traditions!
On November 12th we hosted our member dinner and auction to benefit this wonderful program and raised over $15,000 in donations and toys. WOW, do we have some generous Members or what?
The San Francisco Firefighters Toy Program believes that no child should be without a toy during the holiday season. In time of loss due to fire, our firefighters are the ones who see first-hand, the devastation when a child is left without a favorite toy. Donations of toys are graciously accepted throughout the year at any San Francisco firehouse, or here at The City Club during the month of December.
Attending an event this holiday season at The City Club? We welcome any and all new gifts to add to the collection bin on the 10th floor. Thank you for joining us in making spirits bright for local children!
About the program:
The San Francisco Firefighter’s Toy Program is the city’s largest and the nation’s oldest program of its kind. Since 1949, it has evolved from a few firefighters repairing broken toys and bikes for 15 families to, in 2013, 300 firefighters and friends volunteering their time to distribute over 200,000 toys to more than 40,000 disadvantaged children. Besides helping individual families in need, the Toy Program serves many community organizations, including shelters for abused women and children, inner-city schools, children’s cancer wards, and pediatric AIDS units. We also respond on a year round basis to displaced children who become victims of fires, floods and other such disasters.
We love all things related to food and celebrating, so naturally the Thanksgiving holiday ranks up there as a favorite among our team at The City Club. It also signifies the last quiet day around the Club before the hustle and bustle of the holidays greet us immediately following our break. We can’t wait!

If you’re looking to keep things more traditional, here is an easy Pumpkin Pie recipe to make for your feast:
1 (15oz) can pumpkin filling/puree
1 (14oz) can sweetened condensed milk
2 large eggs
1t ground cinnamon
½ t ground ginger
½ t ground nutmeg
½ t salt
1 (9 inch) unbaked pie crust
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Whisk pumpkin, sweetened condensed milk, eggs, spices and salt in medium bowl until smooth.
- Pour into crust.
- Bake for 15 minutes.
- Reduce oven temperature to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and continue baking fir 35 to 40 minutes or until knife inserted 1 inch from the crust comes out clean.
Cool completely before serving. Garnish with whipped cream.

The City Club of San Francisco has always proudly celebrated same-sex unions and celebrations and we couldn’t be more thrilled with last week’s Supreme Court ruling, legalizing same-sex marriages across the country.

The City Club of San Francisco sales team is ready for the NBA Finals!
The Golden State Warriors head into Game 1 vs. the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday June 4th, 2015 @ Oracle Arena. The Warriors enter the Finals with a record of 67-15 vs. Cavaliers record of 53-29.
Their last NBA playoff appearance was in 1975 which is when they won their 3rd NBA championship.
If you are not part of the lucky 19,989 people who have tickets to the game you can watch the Warriors on ABC or Tune into KNBR 680 AM.
We will have the game on in the Member’s Bar so if you’re a City Club Member, come on by, enjoy happy hour drinks and food, and cheer them on with us!

We haven’t been receiving much rain in San Francisco but that hasn’t stopped our local florist from sourcing the most beautiful stems to produce gorgeous arrangements!
Here at The City Club our centerpieces are nothing short of amazing whether you want to go with something as simple as an Orchid with some greenery and Manzanita Branches or an arrangement that is more elaborate with a variety of flowers, our in house florist Ricardo Ramirez Floral Design does it all.

City Club Members came together on Sunday, May 10 to celebrate Mom!
Mothers & Grandmothers, Kids & Grandkids, Dads, Grandfathers, and extended families all made their way to our spectacular buffet.
Executive Chef Munoz really went all out and created a thing of beauty that had some of everything – and more! From Fluffy Pancakes with Strawberry Compote & Whipped Cream, to Roast Leg of Lamb, an extravagant Caviar Bar and more Tortes, Pies & Cakes than should be legal in one place – it was a showstopper!
All that and a String Quartet to set the mood. A really lovely way to celebrate Mom! If you didn’t make it this year, please come and join us next year.

Last week, members of our sales team enjoyed a Pre-Cinco de Mayo party at Southside Spirit House. The event was sponsored by 7×7 Magazine and Hornitas Tequila.
A $10 donation at the door proceeded La Cocina, a San Francisco based organization whose mission is to cultivate low income food entrepreneurs as they formalize and grow their businesses by providing affordable commercial kitchen space, industry-specific technical assistance, and access to market opportunities.
Guests enjoyed Hornitas signature cocktails and Southside small bites. YUM!
